Philippe Petit, the tightrope-walking star of the documentary "Man on Wire," may soon reprise a feat he first accomplished 25 years ago: strolling along a high-wire suspended 80 feet above Grand Central Terminal.
"We'd love to have him back," says former MTA chair Peter Stangi, who is overseeing the building's centennial festivities, which are scheduled for next February. "I personally would like to see him perform again."
For his part, Petit, 62, said repeating the stunt would be a "dream," although he would again face a big logistical problem. He needs to find a break in train traffic long enough for him to walk 150 feet, eight stories in the air, so that the vibrations of trains arriving at the station don't send him crashing to the floor.
