You can see a whole lot of skin on the beaches of America this summer, but God help anyone who shows off some naked sand. Canadian Guy-Olivier Deveau created a beautiful nude woman out of sand for a big-time annual sculpting competition in Hampton Beach, N.H. Well, some folks weren’t happy with the nudity; one person even complained that such a “pornographic” thing shouldn’t be seen at a family beach.
The competition’s organizer has told the whiners to get over it, but the event’s sponsors would like the artists to be more discreet next year. Guess sculptors should ditch any plans to re-create Matisse’s La Danse. [Source]
