During an 8-year battle with cancerous brain and bladder tumors, BethAnn Telford has had to relearn to walk and speak, and has lost the vision in one eye. But she hasn't lost her drive to test her limits. The 43-year-old has run at least one marathon a year since she felt a pop in her head during the 2004 Marine Corps Marathon, as well as two Ironman triathlons, including one just two weeks ago during which she continually vomited trying to hold down food during the 112-mile bike ride portion.
She's making the demanding turn-around to compete in Sunday's Marine Corps event for a simple reason: with a third brain surgery looming, she's realistic to the possibility that it could be her last race. [Source]
