DALTON, GA - A Whitfield County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with child molestation in north Georgia.

According to a warrant taken out by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Justin M. Litzenberg, 23, of Dalton, was arrested on Thursday at his apartment and charged with cruelty to children, child molestation and false imprisonment.

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office said Litzenberg was placed on administrative leave without pay following his arrest. Litzenberg has worked in the sheriff’s office for about two and a half years.

The arrest of Litzenberg comes less than a week after the arrest of Whitfield County firefighter William Taylor White, who was charged with five counts of child molestation and four counts of sexual battery of a child under the age of 16. White was released from jail on Tuesday on a $150,000 bond. He was also placed on leave without pay
