The Hinesville Police Department has arrested an Army sergeant in the slayings of two other Ft. Stewart soldiers found dead in an apartment earlier this week.

On Thursday, Police said in a news release that they have arrested Sergeant Shaquille D. Craig, 24, for the murders of 23-year-old Spc. Marquez Brown of Macon and 21-year-old Pvt. Malika Darion Jackson of Foley, Alabama. Police found the two soldiers dead Sunday.

The Public Information Officer for Ft. Stewart, Kevin Larson, said Craig of Selma, Alabama, served as a petroleum supply specialist in the 3rd Infantry Division. The two victims were assigned to a different brigade within the Fort Stewart-based division.

Craig joined the Army in June 2012 and arrived at Ft. Stewart in January 2014.

According to a release, the motive of the crime seems to have been personal between Craig and Jackson, and Brown may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to call Hinesville Police Department at 912-368-8211.
