TELFAIR COUNTY, GA - Telfair County Sheriff Deputies say two people have been arrested for illegal drug and gambling operation out of a home in Telfair County.

Arthur Alex Sirmans, 69, of Lumber City and Bethany Dawn Thompson, 25, were taken into custody on multiple felony charges.

Police say the charges stem from a 4-month investigation of a home by the Telfair County Sherriff's office that culminated in the execution of a search warrant and the arrest of two people.

“This investigation began after concerned citizens alerted me to unusual and suspicious activity in the area of the Sirmans residence near Lumber City Ga. Our deputies patrolling the area quickly developed the necessary information that assisted sheriff’s investigators in building a rock solid case against the suspects,” Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said.

During the raid, officers found thousands of prescription pills, numerous firearms, 15 slot machines and cash in excess of $12,000.

Other suspects are expected to be charged in the case.

Officers also alerted those who frequent the home that the operation is no longer in service by posting this sign.
