ATLANTA - Advocates hope to rally supporters who favor Sunday package sales of alcohol. They are calling for lawmakers to vote on the issue at the state capitol.
The group Georgians for Sunday Sales is to gather on the state capitol steps on Washington Street Wednesday.
They'll urge lawmakers to pass a bill that would allow local communities to decide for themselves on the issue of Sunday alcohol sales.
One bill has stalled in the senate while the house is considering a similar measure.
"The big issue is not so much alcohol as it is the people's right to have their voices heard, whether there is a pro or con," said Sunday sales supporter James Dempsey.
Dempsey went on to say that he hopes others will join the group to help change the minds of lawmakers.
Georgia is one of three states that doesn't allow Sunday sales.
