Decatur man goes overboard Carnival cruise ship. Family says 32 y/o Reco Scott was on his honeymoon.

MIAMI - The U.S. Coast Guard says crews are searching for a Decatur man who went overboard from a cruise ship near the Berry Islands in the Bahamas.

According to Jennifer De La Cruz, a spokeswoman for the Carnival Cruise Line, 32-year-old Reco Scott “was observed jumping from a ninth deck cabin balcony” about 4:53 a.m. Friday.

The ship was about 10 miles northwest of the Berry Islands at the time.

“The ship’s command immediately turned the vessel around and began search procedures,” Cruz said.

Cruise ship crewmembers launched a search boat and notified the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard says it directed a search helicopter and cutter to the area to look for Scott.

That ship was on a four day cruse to Mexico from Galveston.
