ATLANTA -- GA Daily News has learned a U.S. Department of Defense contracting officer was arrested by FBI agents in a bribery sting in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

The suspect is accused of influencing an Afghan-based contractor to make bribery payments to him in return for guarantees of continued work by way of contracts in Afghanistan.

Documents obtained by Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne showed the FBI arrested Desi Wade after he accepted $95,000 in cash in a hotel room in Atlanta. The FBI has recovered the $95,000.

According to the documents, Wade admitted to soliciting and receiving two bribes -- one paid in Afghanistan and the other in Atlanta. The FBI said it worked with the Defense Criminal Investigative Service.

I had the honor of working with him.

All of you who are so quick to judge,
No, I am not a family member, and yes I had the honor of working for him. Desi is a good man, that after working for the contracting world saw how big a joke it all is. I mean how many of all of you really have been out there? But yet are so quick to judge, Contracting is so much more than ONE person doing what "Desi did", and corruption is EVERYWHERE!! It's sad that he was the 1st black to be accused and now sadly will be made an example out of. I guarantee if this was a retired one star general that got cought bringing liquor overseas and just happen to be white and the PM of a project it would most defenitly go unnoticed. Contracting sweaps so many things under the rug, everything from TCN rapes, to froud waste and abuse. Its all up to who knows who and how much "pull" people have. So before you go to talking you better know what your talking about. I don't excuse what he did, if its proven he did it , wrong is wrong- but I see thedo see he bigger picture, this is MUCH bigger than Desi- EVERYBODY does it, in some way, shape or form. ALL contracts are fortune 500 companies.

Yes, I worked with Desi Wade in Africa and he is a total moron. The previous guy is right, there is corruption and fraud, waste, and abuse all over the DoD contract world. I'm sorry to hear this but he was heading for this from the time I met him. When you do bad things to people, it will come back to haunt you. I don't care if you are african american, purple, or whatever you may be, criminal minded is criminal minded. Desi was choking prostitutes and bullying people in Djibouti. A professional he wasn't and nor was he a "Good Man" as this has brought to light. "Good Men" don't go around extorting people or bullying people.
