Police arrest Tavares Kirk and Christopher Ware in alleged shooting outside Augusta lounge

AUGUSTA, Ga.  -- Police say two men were arrested after a shooting outside a restaurant on Gordon Highway last weekend.

According to the incident report, on Saturday March 18, around 4 a.m., officers working special duty said they heard four or five shots ring out outside the Last Call Restaurant & Lounge. When they arrived, the found Maurice Ponder shot in the back lying on the ground. Ponder was taken to a nearby hospital.

After a preliminary investigation, Tavares Kirk was arrested. They believe he was the one who shot Ponder

Kirk has been charged with criminal trespass, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon.

 

Police also arrested Christopher Ware after they found a gun in his car. He has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
