Police say a man being interviewed to join the police force went from being a potential officer of the law to a criminal after confessing to committing sexual assault during the interview.
Tyler Ray Price, 21 from West Virginia, reportedly told officers interviewing him for the probationary police officer position on February 8 that he raped an unconscious woman after a night of drinking and videoed the incident.
According to the arrest report, Price told a sergeantnfrom the South Charleston Police Department that he "had sex with a woman who was unconscious after consuming a lot of alcohol". He also said he recorded the woman while she was passed out and unconscious, and still had the video on his phone.
When officers called the woman and told her what Price had said in his pre-employment interview, she told them she did not consent to the sexual encounter and was completely unaware the incident had been recorded.
Police say Price contacted the woman after the interview and confessed to the crime.
On March 13 he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. If convicted, he faces 25 years in prison.
