A sign posted in a Tennessee salon saying overweight customers will be charged more for pedicures is causing uproar.
The sign read, “Sorry but if you are overweight, pedicures will be $45 due to service fees for pedicurists.”
The picture of the sign was posted on Facebook by a woman getting her nails done. The picture of the rude sign has been shared more than a thousand times by angry Facebook users.
When a local news reporter from WREG confronted the owner of the Rose Salon, Son Nguyen, he denied putting up the 'rude' sign and said the picture could have been taken anywhere.
The reporter then showed him a wider shot of the picture with the sign in a premises with the “same walls, same signs and same flooring” as the salon.
Although he still denied it was his, he revealed he had thought about charging extra for overweight customers or completely denying them service but hadn’t yet done it.
He said it would be justified because, it was “difficult for technicians to give them pedicures.”
He also claimed severely overweight clients had broken two chairs costing between $2,000 to $2,500.
The sign has now been taken down.
