Greg Abbott, Texas attorney general, threatens to arrest international election observers

A word of advice to international election observers hoping to observe the upcoming U.S. election: Don't mess with Texas. Texas authorities have threatened to arrest any observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, an affiliate of the United Nations, who dare to set foot upon the sacred ground that is a Texas polling place.

OSCE members have actually been watching U.S. elections since 2002, but amid partisan fighting over potential voter fraud and new voter ID laws, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott issued a letter warning that it might be a criminal offense for any of these observers to "maintain a presence within 100 feet of a polling place's entrance,” a move the OSCE has called unacceptable. Do you think election observers should be allowed in polling places?
