The Georgia Bulldogs had a nice bounce back victory over Kentucky on Saturday. They improved to (7-2) on the season, and they are still in contention for the SEC East title. Georgia still needs help to make it to the championship game, but they’ll have to help themselves by beating Auburn first.
Currently, the Bulldogs are one of six SEC teams ranked in AP and coaches poll. After a steep drop a week ago, Georgia had a predictable rise. The AP poll has Georgia at No.16. They rose one spot from last week. In the coaches poll, Georgia had even more success. The Bulldogs jumped three spots to No.14.
We have to wait until Tuesday to see where the Bulldogs surface in the college football playoff poll, but at this rate, they are still in contention for a playoff spot. However, making it seems like a long shot, and they can’t afford to lose another game this season.
Four SEC teams are ranked ahead of Georgia in both major polls. Mississippi State is the only undefeated team in the SEC and they have been No.1 for over a month. Still, these Bulldogs from the Magnolia State have two tough games left on the regular season schedule.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are No.3 in the coaches poll, but are No.4 in the AP poll. Alabama escaped with a hard fought victory over LSU on Saturday. The Crimson Tide welcome Mississippi State this weekend for a showdown of Top five teams.
The backend of the top 10 features No.9 Auburn and No.10 Ole Miss in both polls. These two teams are the highest rated two loss teams in the country. Ironically enough, each of their last losses came due to fumbles inside the three yard line.
With Georgia having a shot at another Top 10 team this weekend, they might have an opportunity to jump right back in the mix. They will also welcome Todd Gurley back to the field of play.
