The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had one of the most productive bye weeks in college football, and Saturday didn’t even happen yet. Georgia Tech has earned a well deserved rest, but their eyes were certainly glued to the TV on Thursday night. Thanks to North Carolina’s big win over Duke, Georgia Tech earned the ACC Coastal title, and they will face the Florida State Seminoles in the ACC championship game.
Now that Georgia Tech has earned a trip, they’ll have their full attention on Georgia next week. This game is sure to be one of the best games of the season. The Yellow Jackets sit at (9-2), but their losses have come by a combined 11 points. The back to back losses were surround by a five game winning streak to start the season, and the four game winning streak that they are currently on.
Does Georgia Tech have a shot at a College Football Playoff appearance? Probably not, but with games against a No.11 Georgia Bulldogs and No.3 Florida State Seminoles, an (11-2) record might be as strong as any four teams in the country.
Georgia Tech’s current four game winning streak is by an average of 30.5 points per game. They have the 25th ranked offense in the country, but it’s the running game that has opponents fearing Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets average 327.9 yards per game on the ground, and their triple option threat has been lethal down the stretch.
For now, Georgia Tech gets to relax this weekend, and hope they move up in the rankings next week.
