Uber has launched a new delivery app called UberEATS, which allows users to order food from local restaurants using their smartphone. The new UberEATS is powered by the same technology as the Uber taxi app, meaning that the couriers are allocated based on their location, and all payments are made through the app.

Users will also be able to follow the progress of the orders on a map – just as they would follow the progress of their taxi on Uber.

At launch it will be available in Central London from 11am to 11pm, seven days a week and support 150 restaurants. Uber plans to expand the delivery area, and add more restaurants in the coming weeks.
