THE iPhone 7 looks set to get a major design change and this could be the first picture that proves it.

Apple fans haven't got long to wait until the next iPhone gets its grand unveiling.

The US tech giant has a history of showing off their latest flagship phone in September and 2016 is unlikely to be any different.

There's already plenty of iPhone rumours flying around the web but this new leaked image may give us the best look yet at a major design change.

It's long been thought that on its next iPhone and this image below, posted on French website nowhereelse, could be the proof that this rumour is actually true.

PROOF? This image shows an iPhone case without the headphone port

The photo claims to show an aluminium iPhone 7 frame with a pair of speakers instead of the headphone port. If the rumour is true, it's thought Apple will allow its users to plug in their headphones via the lightning socket or via a wireless Bluetooth connection.

For music fans that have an expensive pair of standard wired headphones it's likely they'll need an adaptor which Apple may include in the box.

One reason Apple was thought to be ditching the port was to make the next iPhone thinner, although this image doesn't appear to show a slimmed down device.

There's no way to prove the image is real, there's a chance this isn't a photoshopped fake.
