Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington found dead at home aged 41
LINKIN Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide.

Chester Bennington, the lead singer of band Linkin Park, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles today.

According to TMZ, the 41-year-old Linkin Park frontman committed suicide by hanging himself shortly before 9am.

Chester is survived by his wife Talinda Ann Bentley and his six children.

The singer openly struggled with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life.

He has said in the past that he considered suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.

The iconic band are famed for hits such as Numb, Faint and Crawling.

They famously joined forces with rapper Jay Z in 2004 for their hit album Collision Course.



Chester was close friends with Soundgarden rocker Chris Cornell, who committed suicide in May, and was godfather to one of his children.

The Linkin Park star performed Leonard Cohen's iconic song Hallelujah at his friend's funeral.

In a tragic turn of events, today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Following news of Chester's passing, people have flooded Twitter to pay tribute to the singer.

One heartbroken fan posted: "RIP Chester Bennington. Thank you for all these years for bringing great music. Linkin Park forever."

Another said: "I'm blaring Linkin Park until my heart gives out. RIP Chester."

"I can't believe we've lost another talent to suicide," one Twitter user noted.
