AWKWARD: Bonner appeared to grab his partner's crotch

The very awkward moment Dancing With The Stars contestant Bonner Bolton appeared to grab his partner's crotch backstage was caught on camera.

The professional bull rider has been forced to speak out about the incident which happened. In the video, Bonner can be seen in the background with dance partner Sharna Burgess as host Erin Andrews interviewed two of their competitors.

Bonner went to put his hand around Sharna's waist, but his aim was off – with his hand falling between her thighs.

Sharna quickly pushed his hands away, but the grope was spotted by plenty of viewers - so much so that Bonner was forced to clear up that he hadn't actually been groping his partner on purpose.

The 29-year-old said that his "hand placement that went south, so to speak" was "totally unintentional", telling Entertainment Tonight: "I was just stargazed by Nick and Peta’s performance and I was looking at the TV screen. I felt her bump into me yet I wasn’t really looking at what was bumping into me."

Sharna also took to Twitter to defend her partner.

The 31-year-old tweeted: "Anyone who has the ridiculous idea that it was intentional... is straight up stupid. As in lacking the intelligence to realise it was innocent.

"He is a true gentleman and absolutely would never. It was an innocent accident."

However, Bolton – who also models as well as bull riding – has been open about his attraction to Sharna.

Gushing about his partner, he told People: "I was telling her before we started tonight, 'I can’t look at you for too long. I might get distracted. That’s why I might miss some of my steps.'

"She’s obviously beautiful."
