The yellow lab was found unable to escape the flies which were circling her head - thanks to her massive bulk

A morbidly obese dog has been given a new foster family after an animal shelter pledged to find a "patient person" to get her down to a healthy size.

Staff were stunned at the Labrador mix's weight , and baffled as to how she could have have grown so big.

Now named Daisy by her rescuers, she's settling in to a foster home in Houston, Texas.

The images of Daisy were shared online by the Forgotten Pet Advocates , who say that letting a dog reach such a size is "totally unacceptable," adding: "We are sick over this precious girl."

Leaving the kennel, she was only able to walk a few steps before she collapsed.
