JACKSONVILLE, Ga. -- Telfair County Sheriff's deputies say a woman is in critical condition after being severely burned by her boyfriend.

According to the incident report, deputies responded to a 911 at a home on 39 Roberson Town Lane around 1:18 a.m. Saturday March 18. Upon arrival, they found 56-year-old Barbara Williams with burns on her legs, abdomen, chest and head.

After an investigation, deputies determined that her boyfriend, James Michael Jones, 56, had been drinking when he poured rubbing alcohol on Williams then set her on fire. They also believe he failed to help her once she fled into a neighbor's yard.

Williams was flown via Air Evac to a burn unit in Augusta according to the release.

Jones was arrested on Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery charges and remains in the Telfair County Jail.
