Naked statues of Donald Trump pop up around America

Protesters seeking to humiliate Donald Trump have turned to public art, placing life-size statues of the presidential candidate in the nude.

Several statues of Trump, sans suit and tie, popped up on corners in several cities: New York, San FranciscoLos Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle.

Standing tall in Capitol Hill in Seattle, a bare Trump statue created a photo opportunity for those amused by its presence.
He was placed on the busy intersection of East Pike Street and 11th Avenue by rainbow crosswalks.

The Washington Post reports that anarchist group INDECLINE made the statues.

The group’s latest project has been four months in the making and was inspired, in part, by “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” Hans Christian Andersen’s story about an overly confident leader without clothing, an INDECLINE spokesman told the Post.

“Like it or not, Trump is a larger-than-life figure in world culture at the moment,” said the spokesman, who discussed the project with The Washington Post on condition of anonymity. “Looking back in history, that’s how those figures were memorialized and idolized in their time — with statues.”

While many on social media laugh at or applaud the statue, others call it nauseating.
