The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is currently assisting the Hampton County Sheriff's Office for an "officer down" situation that took place Wednesday evening. 

Two Hampton County deputies have been taken to the hospital following an incident near Brunson. Officials are searching for suspect Jay John Routh. He is considered armed and dangerous. 

Jasper County investigators say they will work alongside Hampton and SLED to help locate Routh after he ran from the scene near Joe Miley and Sandy Run roads. 

The sheriff asks that the community take the time to pray for the officer involved. Officials say one deputy was flown to Charleson and the other was taken to a hospital in Hampton County.
