Hutson Mason has to lead the way against Kentucky

The Georgia Bulldogs look to get back to their winning ways vs Kentucky Wildcats.

The Georgia Bulldogs threw away an opportunity of a lifetime when they got throttled by Florida last Saturday. The Bulldogs dropped to (6-2, 4-2) and lost their control of the SEC East in the process. It’s safe to say, Georgia needs some minor miracle to earn a trip to the SEC Championship game.

No.20 Georgia Bulldogs vs Kentucky Wildcats

Georgia faces the Kentucky Wildcats (5-4,2-4) on the road in a pivotal match up. The Wildcats only home loss came to the hands of undefeated Mississippi State two weeks ago. Kentucky certainly looks like a different team at home, so Georgia should have a fight on their hands from the opening kick.

If Georgia wants any chance at the SEC West’s best team, they must win the rest of their regular season games. It all starts with their defensive performance on the road. Georgia was punished by the Florida running game last week. It was such an embarrassing performance, the Gators only attempted six passes.

Kentucky is more of a passing team, but they have the ability to use the ground game. It might be their best way to upset Georgia. Of course Kentucky won’t exclusively use the run, but if their passing game doesn’t produce results early, they’ll have the ground attack to lean on.

Georgia is still without Todd Gurley, but they’ve been more than adequate with their ground game. Kentucky gives up around 188 yards per game on the ground. It’s up to Nick Chubb and that offensive line to enforce their will on Kentucky’s defense.  In addition to producing yards, they must score points to escape with a victory.

Hutson Mason was never able to get the offense on track last week. By the time Georgia scored a few touchdowns, the game was out of hand. He still has a chance for Georgia to have a good season, but that’s out the window with a loss on Saturday. It’s now or never for Georgia.
