Todd Gurley is back and ready to roll for the Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs rose 5 spots, and must feel like they have new life coming into their game with Auburn

Before the third installment of the college football playoff rankings were released, there was concern about which way the committee would vote on certain teams. Now we know that five ranked teams, including Georgia has the ability to make the college football final four at the end of the season. Even unranked Missouri might have an opportunity to get there. The Tigers have three regular season games left, and if they win out, they’ll face the SEC West champion in the conference title game.

The Bulldogs rose five spots to No.15, and with their remaining schedule, Georgia can move right in the thick of the playoff hunt. It’s evident that they can’t lose another game, but at this point, not many teams can afford to lose a game.

Georgia had a terrible loss two weeks ago, but the return of Todd Gurley may have heavily weighed on the decision to make Georgia a top 15 team. According to the, Gurley will be the starting running back for the Bulldogs. It really couldn’t be the strength of the Kentucky victory that helped Georgia rise so fast. However, if the Bulldogs knock off Auburn on Saturday, they likelihood of them moving into the Top 10 should be a breeze.

Overall, the SEC has seven teams ranked in the Top 25 of the college football playoff poll. The No.1 Mississippi State Bulldogs are the lone team in the top four, but they are not alone in the top 10. Alabama comes in at No.5, and they must feel a little slighted by getting passed over by TCU.  The Crimson Tide get to battle Mississippi State for SEC West supremacy on Saturday.

No.9 Auburn and No.10 Ole Miss round out the top 10, and they seem to be very much alive for a playoff berth. Considering that they both have two losses, their ranking is fairly lofty at this point in time.

The SEC also has a pair of three loss teams in top 25. The LSU Tigers dropped one spot to No.17. LSU lost a big opportunity when they had Alabama on the ropes, so their dream of a playoff berth is over. The final SEC team in the college football playoff Top 25 is No.24 Texas A&M. The Aggies were left for dead, but a victory over Auburn erased all of Texas A&M’s shortcomings in one fell swoop.

Now it’s a wait and see approach when it comes to the final games in November. However, chaos will continue to wreak havoc within the top 25.
