Georgia Bulldogs ranked No.9 in coaches poll

The Georgia Bulldogs moved up one spot in Sunday’s Amway college football coaches poll. After an easy victory over Charleston Southern, Georgia’s was voted the No.9 team in college football.  The Bulldogs are (9-2,6-2) in the SEC.

Coming into the weekend, it was a foregone conclusion that Georgia would win, but they had a chance to clinch the SEC East. Unfortunately for the Bulldog faithful, the Missouri Tigers beat Tennessee to clinch at least a share of the SEC East title. Still, Georgia can earn a spot in the SEC championship game with a Missouri loss next week.

In addition to Georgia moving up in this week’s coaches poll, the rest of the SEC did not have a bad day either. After Alabama’s easy victory over Western Carolina, the Crimson Tide moved up to the No.1 position ahead of No.2 Florida State. It’s not the first time that Alabama jumped to No.1 in the coaches poll, but it should be noted that the still have a loss on the season.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs remained No.4 in the country after trouncing Vanderbilt at home. The Bulldogs need a win in the EGG Bowl and an Alabama loss to Auburn to secure an SEC championship game shot.

Combined, there are three SEC teams in the Top 10 of the coaches poll, but it doesn’t end there.  Three more teams are ranked in the Top 25. The Auburn Tigers come in at No.16, while SEC East leader, Missouri is up to three spots to No.17. Unfortunately, No.19 Ole Miss tumbled in the rankings after a shutout loss to Arkansas.

Although Georgia doesn’t have anymore conference games left, they do face No.15 Georgia Tech in a hotly contested instate battle this weekend. The winner of the game will be riding high going into championship week.
