Nick Chubb rumbles down the sideline against Georgia Tech

The Georgia Bulldogs faced off with Georgia Tech and the game ended in dramatic fashion. For the third time this season, Georgia left a game with a loss. It was by far the worst weekend of game action during the tumultuous season. First, Georgia lost a chance at the SEC title game when Missouri came back to beat Arkansas.

The No.15 Georgia Bulldogs dropped seven spots in the AP Poll, after the overtime loss to Georgia Tech.  Georgia is the second highest ranked three loss team in the country, but possibilities of the 2014 season ended in a dud. If everything fell right for Georgia, they could have been a top five team entering championship week. Instead, they are just waiting for a bowl game that won’t have the fan base excited.

Georgia Tech only rose four spots to No.12, but they were part of an ACC conglomerate that went (4-0) against the SEC on Saturday. It’s likely, that the SEC only has one chance at a top four playoff spot this season.

The Alabama Crimson Tide rose to No.1 in the AP Poll and they have been the top ranked team by the selection committee for two weeks. Mississippi State was No.1 just a few weeks ago, and now they are the No.10 team in the country. They are followed by No.13 Ole Miss, while No.14 Missouri jumped up three spots.

Auburn lost their fourth game of the season, and dropped five spots to No.20. LSU was another top 10 team that fell out of the rankings, only to come back into the top 25 at No.23.

Overall, the SEC has seven teams in the final regular season poll, but they are in danger of missing the College Football Playoffs altogether. Alabama faces Missouri in the conference title game. If Missouri somehow pulled off the upset, the Tigers would likely have to come from the teens, and move into the top four.
