Tinder Bans Use for Under 18s

Tinder has announced that, beginning next week, users under the age of 18 will be banned from using the Tinder dating app. Previously, the age limit for users was only 13 -  which is below the age of consent, although young users could not be matched with adults. They were meant to be matched within the same age bracket, but there is the problem that older users might light about their age. So Tinder has decided that making the app only available for adults is the “right thing to do” to protect young people.

Vice president of communications Rosette Pambakian said in a statement that “On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections; we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences.”

“Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for under 18 users.

We believe this is the best policy moving forward”

Under 18s have been allowed to use the app since its launch in 2012, but that’ll all change next week.
